Ingredients
Method
- To Make the Syrup: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the strawberries, maple syrup, kosher salt, and a splash of water. Simmer until the strawberries soften and break down. Use a fork to mash the mixture, then transfer it to a bowl to cool completely. Once cooled, stir in the hyaluronic acid until well blended.
- To Make the Smoothie: In a high-powered blender, combine the frozen strawberries, banana, avocado, collagen powder, almond milk, pitted date, and sea moss gel. Blend until the mixture is completely smooth. If the smoothie is too thick, add more milk to reach your desired consistency.
- To Assemble the Smoothie: Coat the sides of the serving glass with a thin layer of coconut cream. Add a few spoonfuls of the strawberry syrup to the bottom of the glass. Carefully pour the smoothie into the glass, and serve immediately for a refreshing treat!
Notes
This smoothie includes a few ingredients that may be challenging to locate. These are:
- Liquid hyaluronic acid, with NeoCell being a common brand. It's optional and can be left out if unavailable.
- Sea moss gel, a popular ingredient in the Caribbean. It can be quite affordable if processed at home, and it's commonly available in gel form at most health food stores, stored in the fridge.
- Powdered collagen, which can be replaced with a preferred protein powder if desired.
