Ingredients
Method
- Place lime juice and sugar into a small saucepan and heat over a gentle flame.
- Continuously stir the mixture until the sugar completely dissolves and it takes on a syrup-like consistency.
- Once done, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature.
- Transfer the cooled syrup to a large pitcher.
- Incorporate the maraschino cherries with their juice, lemon-lime soda, and cherry juice into the pitcher.
- Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
- Serve the cherry limeade over ice in glasses.
Notes
The cherry essence intensifies over time, so for a party, combine the cherries, cherry juice, and lime syrup in advance and let it meld overnight. Add the soda just before serving to maintain its effervescence, though I've pre-mixed everything the night before and it retained its fizziness perfectly the next day.
