Ingredients

  • 1 bag 32 oz frozen tater tots
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ½ cup cream of chicken soup or cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese or a cheese blend
  • ½ cup cooked and crumbled bacon optional
  • ¼ cup diced green onions optional
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh parsley for garnish
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the sour cream, cream of chicken soup, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until the mixture is creamy and well-combined.
  3. Spread half of the frozen tater tots evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. Pour the sour cream mixture evenly over the layer of tater tots, spreading it gently with a spatula. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese and bacon (if using) over the sauce for added flavor.
  4. Arrange the remaining tater tots in a single, even layer over the top of the casserole. Sprinkle the remaining shredded cheese generously over the tater tots, ensuring even coverage.
  5. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35–40 minutes. The casserole is ready when the tater tots are golden and crispy, and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
  6. Carefully remove the casserole from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes to cool slightly. Garnish with a sprinkle of diced green onions and freshly chopped parsley for a touch of color and freshness. Serve warm and enjoy the comforting flavors of this cheesy delight.
